Going to re:Invent is unique opportunity to educate ourselves, talk to peers and experts and learn from what others are doing.
Navigating here is challenging, as the conference is spread across many hotels and venues, huge distances and with more than 2000 talks and events to choose from. But being close to almost 50 000 technology and AWS-interested people and soaking up the vibe is inspiring, and we are getting new ideas every day. Staying curious is not a problem!
The days are long and hectic, and we are running between the events, but we are loving every minute of it. Ok, so we’re not actually running. The conference area is of such a scale that they are running shuttle busses continually between all venues. Only in Vegas.
Diversity and ESG
A noticeable and inspiring point is the focus on gender equality by having many women presenting, represented as VPs and moderators in panel debates. This demonstrates how serious AWS is about diversity. The same goes for AWS’s environmental focus. It was amazing to see the public announcement of their ambition to be carbon neutral in 2025, water positive in 2030.
AWS showcase their partners
Another point to mention is how AWS works together with and highlights their partners and customers. Instead of putting themselves in the spotlight, AWS lifts them up, and let them talk about their own journeys with AWS.
Inspiring values
Thriving is a keyword in many of the sessions we have seen. The optimism, possibilities and the values that are communicated from stage is recognizable and inspiring. As a group of people from many areas across the bank, with different approaches and views, we can relate to AWS repeating values from our strategy for the upcoming years, The Guide.
When we return home, we will write more about what we have learned and our take aways from re:Invent this year. Stay tuned!
